San Diego

Our trip to San Diego this year was amazing.  Honestly if I could pick what heaven is it would be this trip.  I just sat up on the beach holding little Fiona and watched Liam and Chris play in the sand.  Occasionally I would lay Fiona on my chair, or hand her to one of my mom and play in the sand with Liam while Chris and my Dad went boogie boarding. The weather was perfect and the food was fantastic.

Liam loved to go get water out of the ocean.  He learned the word bucket this trip because he always wanted us to get it full of water.

Liam LOVED the beach!  He just sat and played for hours and hours.  Every time we would come out he would come up to me and Chris and say "Dig hole"  This was so he could bury his toys and lay in it.

Liam Loved the sand so much he didn't mind if a little got on his food or our food.  He dropped a bunch of grapes in the sand, when he picked them up they were coated in sand.  He just popped them in his mouth and ate them.  Then put his sandy hand in the grape bag and ruined them all. He didn't mind. That just meant he got all the grapes to himself.

Fiona was such a trooper. She loved the beach.  She would lay under the umbrella and sleep. Everybody on the beach loved to look at her and Liam and tell us how cute they were.  I tend to agree.

In the middle of the week we went to Sea World. Liam had a blast! He especially loved the Turtles, Sharks, and Killer Whales.  The first time one jumped out of the tank he had a look of panic on his face, but he looked around and saw Papa, Mema, Chris and I clapping and cheering and he decided it was okay.  He cheered and clapped and laughed the whole time.

Liam watching the seal lions.  We tried to get him to feed the stingrays and he refused.  He just wanted to look at them, but he did feed a sea lion. Then we tried to get it on video and he wouldn't do it again.  Oh well.

"Daddy dig hole"

Liam had trouble seeing all the toys on the beach that weren't his, because he thought they should be his.  Multiple times he went and grabbed other kids toys to play with.  This resulted in a melt down when we told him that he could not do this. My parents got him the dump truck in the picture because he really wanted another kids truck.  He slowly followed the kid around while he was playing with it. As soon as the other kid let go of it Liam pounced, took it and ran away.
Almost every morning we would take a walk on the beach.  Liam would bring his bucket and we would pick up seashells.  The beach is very rocky and to keep him busy we asked him to pick up all the rocks.  It was his mission! He would run and pick up every rock he saw and bring them back to the bucket.  We would let him put them in the bucket and then when he turned around to get more we would dump out the ones he had brought us.

He loved to stand int the water as the waves came up.  He had no fear. The waves toppled him a couple of times and he just got right back up and waited for the next one to come.

Liam would run down the beach like this. Moving his arms back and forth. It reminded me of the Egyptians, but I think he was trying to mimic to movement of the waves.  In and out.

Such a happy boy!

Finding more rocks.

Our last day at the beach. I wish we never had to leave.  Such a perfect trip.
